What Commercial Group Canada is

Commercial Group Canada brings together active commercial real estate investors and a selected group of the professionals who help them buy, build and finance. The room is built primarily for investors and owners, with a limited number of professionals invited.

The conversations cover multifamily, mixed-use, industrial, retail, land and development, on-market and off. It is a place for the things that move real deals: capital, partnerships, and the operators worth knowing across Atlantic Canada.

It helps to say what the group is not. It is not a brokerage, a listing service, an industry association or a training program. Nothing is listed for sale on this website, and there is nothing to buy.

Who it is for

The network is primarily for people who own or invest in commercial property in Atlantic Canada: apartment buildings and other multifamily, mixed-use, industrial, retail, land and development sites.

A limited number of professionals are invited because they add value to the room:

• Builders, developers and construction managers
• Lenders and mortgage brokers
• Commercial realtors and appraisers
• Architects and engineers
• Property managers
• Lawyers and accountants who work in commercial real estate

There is no published minimum portfolio size. Applications are reviewed for relevance and fit, which means what you own, build, finance or advise on in the region. More detail for multifamily investors, developers and professionals.

What the group offers

The evenings

Invite-only evenings at a private venue on the Halifax waterfront, over appetizers and drinks. They are come-and-go, business casual, and built for conversation: a stand-up mixer, not a seminar. Three to four are planned each year. The most recent, on 29 September 2026, had about 80 people in the room. Members hear about each evening first, and the address is sent by email and text once your place is confirmed. See the evenings and the photo gallery.

The deal room

A members-only channel where on-market, off-market and pocket listings across the four Atlantic provinces are shared between people who can close. It is a private WhatsApp group called the Commercial Real Estate Group, and it is also where questions and introductions carry on between evenings. Approved members receive the invite with their approval email.

Tell the hosts what you are looking for and who you need to meet. Introductions are made on purpose, not left to the room.

How applications are reviewed

Applications are read by Riley Oickle, the host, with the Indi Mortgage Commercial Division team. Approval is at their discretion. The group does not publish a member list, and member information is not sold or passed to third parties for their marketing. The privacy notice explains what is collected and why.

Who runs it

Commercial Group Canada is hosted by Riley Oickle, with the Indi Mortgage Commercial Division team. Riley is a Nova Scotia real estate investor and an associate mortgage broker with Indi, a commercial mortgage brokerage based in Bedford, Nova Scotia.

Indi Mortgage Commercial Division is also the group's founding sponsor. There are no fees, and joining carries no obligation to use the sponsor's services.

Where it operates

Members come from across Atlantic Canada: Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador. In-person evenings are held in Halifax only. There are no chapters or events in other cities, so members outside Halifax take part through the deal room and travel in for the evenings.
