The associations, meetups, conferences and private networks in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador, side by side: who each one is for, what it costs and how to join.

By Commercial Group Canada · Checked against each organization's own website on 12 October 2026 · Reviewed every quarter

The short answer

Atlantic Canada has four kinds of real estate group. Industry associations advocate and educate, and charge dues. Open meetup groups welcome everyone. Conferences happen once a year. And a private network, Commercial Group Canada, is joined by application and built around commercial investors and owners. They do different jobs, and you can use more than one.

We run one of the groups on this list, so we have tried to be accurate and generous about the others. If something here is out of date, tell us and we will fix it.

The four kinds of group, and what each is good for

Private networks

Good for: relationships with other investors and owners, partners, capital and the conversations around deals. Commercial Group Canada is by-application and free, sponsored by Indi Mortgage Commercial Division. It holds invite-only evenings in Halifax three to four times a year and runs a members' deal room between them. Members are in all four Atlantic provinces.

Industry associations

Good for: advocacy, education, standards and trade events in your part of the industry. They are membership organizations, usually with dues, conferences and member events. Owners, developers and managers each have their own.

Open investor meetups

Good for: learning and meeting people at every stage of investing. They are open to anyone and organized through Meetup, where dates are posted.

Conferences

Good for: a concentrated day of market information and a large room once a year, at a registration fee.

All are open and organized through Meetup.

Newfoundland and Labrador

We have not found a dedicated commercial investor group or a rental housing provider association based in the province. If you run one, tell us and we will add it.

National networks and programs

Two national names come up often in searches for Canadian investor groups. Both are paid programs. When we checked their websites on 12 October 2026, neither listed an Atlantic Canada chapter or an in-person event in the region.

  • REIN Canada (Real Estate Investment Network). A national membership network for real estate investors. Its listed member meetings are virtual.
  • Keyspire. A national real estate investing education and coaching program, delivered online.

How to choose, and what to ask before you join

  • Who is actually in the room? Owners and investors, service providers, or people selling a program? Ask for the mix.
  • What does it cost, in total? Dues, event tickets, courses and upsells.
  • Who runs it, and what do they get out of it? Every group is run by someone. A sponsor or host with a business interest is normal. It should be stated plainly.
  • Is it your asset class? A room of first-time house flippers and a room of apartment owners are both useful, to different people.
  • How often does it meet, and what happens in between?
  • Is anyone offering investments? If a group or a member is raising money, the offer is subject to securities law. See the rules for raising money from investors.

Where Commercial Group Canada fits

Commercial Group Canada is a private, by-application network of commercial real estate investors, owners, developers, brokers and lenders across Atlantic Canada, with invite-only evenings in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It is the private, investor-first room on this list: free, reviewed by application, and commercial in focus. It is not an association, a course or a listing service, and it does not replace any of them.

In the interest of the third question above: the group is hosted by Riley Oickle, an associate mortgage broker with its founding sponsor, Indi Mortgage Commercial Division. There is no fee, and joining carries no obligation to use the sponsor's services.

It is if the people in it are the people you need to know. Check who is in the room, what it costs in total, who runs it and why, and whether it matches the kind of property you own or want to own. Free and open groups cost nothing to try.

How do I vet a real estate investment group before joining?

Ask who the members are, what the total cost is, who runs it and how they benefit, and whether anyone is selling courses or investments. If investments are being offered, securities rules apply and you should check the person's registration with your provincial securities regulator.

Are there private or invite-only commercial real estate groups in Atlantic Canada?

Yes. Commercial Group Canada is joined by application, and its in-person events are invite-only evenings in Halifax. Every application is reviewed personally for relevance and fit.
